Filler Aftercare
Restore Volume and Minimize Wrinkles For A Youthful, Healthy Appearance
Dermal fillers are a fantastic option to both smooth and plump the skin, reducing the appearance of wrinkles, hollowing, and leaving your face looking hydrated and fresh.
Filler Post-Treatment Instructions
We recommend that you drink 8 glasses of water per day after treatment. Be aware that you must guard against infection by keeping the skin clean, especially in the first 48 hours. You may gently apply a small amount of makeup after 6 hours. Avoid excessive rubbing or manipulation of the skin. The filler injected is quite malleable for the first few days – DO NOT press on the treated area and if possible, try to sleep on your back.
The use of Tylenol (acetaminophen) is permitted. Arnica gel or tabs can be helpful to minimize bruising/swelling. Aspirin, alcohol and heavy exercise are permitted after 24 hours unless there is significant bruising.
After filler treatments, you may experience some minor swelling, redness, itching, bruising, headache or tenderness. This will typically last for less than a week. It is normal to feel the sensation of newly placed filler for several weeks.
For at least 2 weeks after treatment, avoid prolonged exposure to hot or cold temperatures (For example, hot tubs, winter sports or prolonged sun exposure.
We would like to see you 2 weeks after treatment in order to assess the outcome of the injections and repeat your personal photos. Additional injections may be undertaken at an additional fee. Please report any bruising/swelling/skin problems that persist for more than 1 week or any other symptoms that cause concern to our office.
Over the course of the next few weeks, the Filler will settle into position and absorb water, improving the initial effect. Fillers usually last for 6-18 months depending on the area being treated and the total amount used and your body’s unique metabolism.
